MASSIVE 6.2 CHILEAN MEGALODON SHARK TOOTH FOSSIL 1LB 4OZ, RARE HIGH QUALITY. Just a giant tooth with the distinctive red root and bone colored enamel of fossil teeth from Chile.
Luckily, I collected this beauty prior to the Chilean government 2006 ban on the exportation of megalodon teeth and other fossils. It is quite wide which really increases its hefty feeling in your hand. It has lustrous enamel with subtle rippling on the labial side. This tooth gets high marks in every category. Size - 6.2 x 5.1 - Huge.
Weight - 20.4 oz (570 gm) - Massive. These teeth used to be found in phosphate mines in Chile. This particular tooth was painstakingly freed of any attached matrix, and is just a big beauty.It has nice well-defined serrations with only minimal blunting of the tip, which is amazing considering the mass of this tooth and the forces to which it was subjected. There is a small amount of mineral staining from environmental conditions. The enamel is very intact with almost no peeling. Very small nicks can be found in the enamel which may have occurred during removal of any matrix. I give these criticisms in order to be fair and complete, as the positive features of this tooth speak for themselves.
