3.09 Authentic Megalodon Tooth, with coral attached. Self-collected by Danny McBride, the writer of the first three Underworld films, this tooth was found while SCUBA diving on the submerged fossil beds off of Venice, Florida, in 2021. It displays classic Venice colors: black and bluish gray.
The teeth collected underwater tend to be harder and more stone like than those collected on land, especially those near limestone or phosphate mines. The scientific name of these sharks vary, with some scientists referring to them as Otodus megalodon, and others calling them Carcharocles megalodon. The name itself means Big Tooth. These massived sharks emerged on the scene 20 million years ago, during the early Miocene epoch and only went extinct approximately 3.6 million years ago, during the Early Pliocene Epoch.
