Fossil Shark Tooth Pendant, Megalodon Tooth, with 925 Sterling Silver Cap of carved Shark Design and Blue Topaz Accent. Miocene - 1.5 to 28 million years ago. Please see all my Sharks Tooth Pendants. This gem quality fossil shark's tooth displays a medium greyish/blue enamel coating with very good serrations along both edges.
It measures 1.95 inches (50 mm) in length from top to tip, not including the bale, and capped with a custom shark design of pure 925 Sterling Silver and a rectangular faceted Blue Topaz gem. One of my favorite pendants in the collection. The teeth of the giant ancient shark, Megalodon, are among the most prized specimens for the prehistoric fossil collector. They are similar to those of today's Great White, but considerably larger.
They were the largest carnivorous fish ever to have swum the oceans of our planet reaching lengths of up to 70 feet. They lived 1.5 to 28 million years ago.
